Reminder: Applications for retirement incentive program due June
30
Employees who intend to apply for the Phased Plus Retirement Incentive
program must submit
applications to their departments by 4 p.m. Thursday, June
30.
Campus grants available for interdisciplinary teams
The Plant Sciences Institute is offering three types of
competitive
research grants for interdisciplinary teams. The aim is to
establish self-sustaining centers and institutes that work toward
solving challenges in plant sciences.
Settlement reached in Vet Med dispute
Veterinary Medicine dean Lisa Nolan released a statement
today about the end of litigation regarding the university's January
purchase of a Des Moines specialty veterinary clinic.

Search opens for next Leopold Center director
Iowa State University has begun a
nationwide search for the next director of the Leopold Center for
Sustainable Agriculture. The research and education center comprises
statewide programs to develop sustainable agricultural practices
that are both profitable and conserve natural resources.
ISU lab combines technologies in biorenewables research
Multidisciplinary research in ISU's Hybrid Processing Laboratory
combines biochemical and thermochemical sciences to produce
biorenewable
fuels and products.
Students reflect on student teaching experience . . . in
Indonesia
Four students in ISU's teacher education program completed their
semester-long student
teaching experience in Palembang, Indonesia, this spring.
ISU study: Parents prefer content ratings to age-based rating
system
An ISU assessment of parent surveys found that, because parents don't
agree on an "appropriate" age for their children to view specific
content in films, video games and TV, age-based
ratings aren't very useful to them. Parents would like to see
detailed content ratings covering the broad areas of violent,
sexual, offensive and mature content.

Des Moines art fest will have ISU presence
Nine recent College
of Design alumni were selected for the "Emerging Iowa Artists"
division and will show their work this weekend (June 24-26) at the
14th annual Des Moines Arts Festival.
Deadline nears for discount packages on Stephens
performances
June 30 is the deadline to purchase
ticket subscriptions -- for three
or more performances of your choosing -- to the 2011-12 Season at
Stephens. In addition to discounts on the tickets, subscribers
enjoy priority seating and other benefits. Single-show tickets go
on sale to the public July 18.
