team is competing this week Iowa State's student
Team LunaCY is at
the Kennedy Space Center in Florida this week to compete in NASA's
annual Lunabotics Mining Competition. More Extension and Outreach
initiatives receive funding Seven proposals have received
one-time funding totaling approximately $1.4 million in the
second year of the Vice President for Extension and Outreach's
Strategic Initiatives
program. Initiatives are large-scale projects that Extension
and Outreach units or staff otherwise would not be able to
accomplish. Design professor leads team in autism research,
outreach Graphic design interim chair Deb Satterfield and
a team of faculty and students are working to create educational,
social inclusion and play experiences for children with cognitive
disabilities, including autism.

In this month's Human Sciences Matters: A recent
grad will head to Indonesia on a Fulbright grant to teach
English. A fledgling future teachers' group is now largest in the
state. Students and faculty members will visit Henan Normal
University in China this summer to advance an emerging
partnership.

Memorial
Day ceremony begins at 9 a.m.
The
university's annual Memorial Day ceremony, to remember
employees, retirees and their spouses who have passed away since
Memorial Day 2012, will be held Monday, May 27 (9 a.m., Reiman
Ballroom, ISU Alumni Center).
Museums switch to summer
hours Summertime means a change in operating hours for the
University Museums. All three will close over the extended Memorial
Day weekend and on July 4. -
Brunnier Art
Museum, Scheman Building: 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, 1-4
p.m. Saturday-Sunday (closed July 4-Aug. 26)
