Iowa State twirler headed to international
competition in August
Karen
Whitman, featured twirler for the Cyclone Varsity Marching Band and
a senior in event management, will compete as a member of
Team USA at the World Baton
Twirling Federation's International Cup, Aug. 7-11 in the
Netherlands.
Regents' transparency task force wraps up its
work
Recommendations for improved transparency (PDF) at
Iowa's regent schools and the board office will be considered by
board members at their August meeting. The recommendations (PDF) include a
transparency officer at each school and expanded opportunities for
public comment prior to each board meeting.
Does investing in employee wellness improve
productivity?
A team of
Iowa State researchers is conducting a pilot program with three Iowa
manufacturers to see whether investing in an employee wellness
program ultimately can cut costs and improve productivity.

Artist lecture is
June 27
Artist and printmaker Amy
Worthen, Des Moines, will present a talk on "Rediscovering
the Hidden Aspects" on Thursday, June 27 (noon, Brunnier Art
Museum, Scheman). Worthen creates detailed architectural
engravings. She will discuss her series, "Real and Imagined
Aspects of the State Capitol (1976-77)," on exhibit at the
Brunnier Art Museum through July 3.
