address is set for Sept. 13 President Steven Leath will
take a quick look back and share his priorities and goals for
the year ahead during his annual address on Sept. 13

management A student-led landscape design will help improve
the green space and manage runoff and erosion issues along Squaw
Creek as part of a construction project that adds

year An estimated 175 faculty and staff volunteers, armed
with sun screen, fresh fruit and ice water, welcomed students
to fall semester on Monday and Tuesday. UBS textbook site offers
Half, Amazon price comparisons Bargain-hunting textbook
buyers have it easy on University Book Store's online site. The
site automatically provides textbook cost comparisons for
UBS, Amazon.com and Half.com. Search is under way for
next Ames Laboratory director Oct. 9 is the preferred
deadline for applications for the director's post at Ames
Laboratory. The search committee is looking for both internal

campusEnrollment, student demand fuels growth for
online courses Enrollment among ISU students
taking a mix of on-campus and online courses increased by
nearly 40 percent in fiscal year 2012, and enrollment in
online-only classes jumped by more than 25
percent. Employee vanpools have open
seats ISU employees currently commute to work in
university-organized vanpools
from the communities of Boone, Roland, Story City, Ankeny, Des
Moines and West Des Moines. There's a spot for you,
too.

Arts and

Cyclone Cinema fall series starts
tonight
Cyclone Cinema, a program of the
Student Union Board, will show 14 feature films this fall released
in theaters since May. Movies are shown Thursday through Sunday
nights (7 and 10 p.m. nightly) in 101 Carver; admission is free and
the public is welcome.
Troxel Hall dedication is Friday
Iowa State's
newest building, Troxel Hall, will be dedicated
during a 3 p.m. ceremony on Friday, Aug. 30, with members of the
Troxel family. All are invited to attend.
CyDay Friday kicks off a cardinal and gold
weekend
Don't have tickets to the football season opener this weekend? Don't
worry. There are plenty of weekend events (most of them are
free) to show your Cyclone spirit, including the CyDay Friday
