ISU anthropologist helps design educational video game for PBS

Christina Gish-Hill, assistant professor of anthropology, recently consulted for PBS on a digital role-playing video game for middle school students.


It's Homecoming weekend

Homecoming events, including lunches on central campus, a pep rally, Alumni Center open house, mass campaniling, midnight pancakes and athletic events, continue through Saturday evening.


Students visit farms during ag weekend

Eight College of Agriculture and Life Sciences students -- undergrads and grads -- participated in the annual agriculture experience weekend last month to get a hands-on learning experience. Their stops included an ethanol plant, cattle feedlot, dairy, community farmer's market and family farms.

Arts and events

Honors and awards ceremony is Friday afternoon

Recipients of ISU Alumni Association and college awards will be honored during the association's annual honors and awards ceremony on Friday, Nov. 8 (1:30 p.m., Benton Auditorium, Scheman) as part of Homecoming festivities. The public is invited; a dessert reception will follow.

 

University events will honor veterans

The annual Gold Star Hall ceremony (Friday, Nov. 8) and a community supper (Wednesday, Nov. 13) are planned to honor Iowa State's military personnel, past and present.

 

Planetarium shows are Friday

Learn about space at the ISU Planetarium shows on Nov. 8 on the lower level of Physics Hall. The first show, which starts at 6:30 p.m., will last 20 minutes and is geared toward kids. Shows at 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. are suitable for all ages. Free tickets are available at the door beginning at 6:15 p.m.
