Anderson inspires, organizes workshop on spaceflight opportunities Retired NASA astronaut and distinguished faculty fellow in aerospace engineering Clayton Anderson worked with the department to develop a 7-day workshop in spaceflight operations. The prototype is designed to give students a taste of the operational aspects of spaceflight training and Iowa State educators a first look at preparing students for new employment opportunities in commercial spaceflight. Regents move toward a third Deloitte contract The new contract, to be negotiated by executive director Robert Donley and approved by the board, is for an initial six-month "wave" in a business case aimed at finding savings and efficiencies in the three regent universities' purchasing operations. New attraction developed for Veenker The university's golf course is participating in an initiative that provides bees, butterflies and other pollinators with a sustainable, native habitat.

Around campusIowa State approved to offer Navy officer program Iowa State has been approved to offer a U.S. Navy officer-commissioning program for active duty sailors to receive an engineering bachelor's degree before entering the Navy's nuclear power training school. Stephens Auditorium curtain restoration completed As part of a year-long process to clean and repair it, the iconic stage curtain at Stephens Auditorium was taken down last month -- the first time ever -- so workers could replace the back lining.
