Camp with Cy at the state fair

University marketing and ISU Extension and Outreach are partnering for this year's state fair exhibit, "Camp Cy: A Statewide Adventure." The interactive display will showcase ISU's work in all 99 Iowa counties.


More off-campus apartments for fall

Meeting Aug. 5 in Ames, the state Board of Regents took a first look at a spring semester tuition increase for resident undergraduates, approved another residence department lease of west Ames apartments, approved compensation increases for the university presidents and gave the green light to demolish two antiquated buildings to pave the way for the proposed Student Innovation Center.


Fresh produce for you

It's the growing season at the horticulture research farm north of Ames and university employees are able to enjoy harvested vegetables and fruits via an online farmer's market of sorts.

Solar car team captures elusive first place

ISU's Team PrISUm completed at least 70 laps on each of three racing days to capture first place in the 2015 Formula Sun Grand Prix July 29-31 in Austin, Texas. It was the first overall victory in the team's 25 years of solar racing.

 

Former astronaut to lead second weeklong workshop

ISU alum and former NASA astronaut Clayton Anderson will lead 12 undergraduates through a spaceflight operations workshop Aug. 10-16. Anderson offered a prototype workshop for a half dozen students last August.

 

Leath radio interview

President Steven Leath was a guest on the Aug. 4 edition of Iowa Public Radio's River to River program. The conversation, archived online, included questions about enrollment growth, external research funding, the student health center and the possibility of additional tuition revenue spring semester, among others.

Marston Muses are getting a makeover

Four sculptures perched outside Marston Hall's fourth floor are being cleaned and repaired this week as part of restoration work on the limestone artwork. The Marston Hall Muses represent the four engineering disciplines offered by the college in 1900, when construction began.


After hours at the gardens

Reiman Gardens is hosting an "After Hours" barbecue on Friday, Aug. 7 (4:30-7 p.m.), featuring live music from the Bill Martin Group and food from ISU Catering. Tickets are $28; attendees must be at least 21 years old. To purchase tickets, call 294-1318 or order online
