Council learns more about staff salaries, numbers

Regents approve spring tuition increase ... for two universities As expected, the state Board of Regents approved a 3 percent tuition hike for resident undergraduates for spring semester. But in an unanticipated move, the board exempted University of Iowa students from the increase.
Enrollment shows ninth year of growth in 2015 Student enrollment numbers taken this fall reflect Iowa State's seventh consecutive year of record growth. The 36,001 total includes students from every Iowa county, all 50 states and 118 countries.
Campus cafés up their recycling measures Campus cafés have implemented new recycling programs this fall that are both green and efficient.

Human Sciences announces Hilton lecture series
The College of Human Sciences has announced a year's worth of lectures by scholars in multiple disciplines around a "future of healthy families" theme. Ross Parke, professor emeritus at the University of California, Riverside, is the college's 2015-16 Dean Helen LeBaron Hilton Endowed Chair and inspired the lecture series.

40 never looked so good
University Museums is celebrating its 40th anniversary with an exhibition of Iowa artists, called "40/40," at the Brunnier Art Museum through Dec. 19. There is no cost to attend the exhibition, though a $3 donation is appreciated. A Sept. 19 fundraising reception (7-9 p.m., program at 8:30 p.m., Brunnier Art Museum) highlights the celebration. Cost is $50 per person at the door.

Symposium Grant proposals are due Oct. 15 in the Center for Excellence in the Arts and Humanities. Grants support national artistic and scholarly conferences/symposia on campus (spring 2016-spring 2017) that advance arts and humanities research at Iowa State. Guidelines and the RFP are online.
