Upcoming changes for Professional and Scientific position descriptions and developments in ISU's wellness program were presented at the Dec. 3 P&S Council meeting.

Faculty numbers reflect growth
In numbers shared at the Dec. 8 Faculty Senate meeting, this year's headcount reflects a net gain of 81 faculty. Senators also learned about safety training opportunities offered by ISU police.

Another year, another tax form

Engineering to improve human health
A research group led by ISU and Ames Laboratory engineer Surya Mallapragada is developing polymers and nanocomposites with medical applications.

Students design interiors for combat outposts
Students in an Iowa State graduate studio have propelled interior design to a place it's never been before: the 21st century combat outpost. They created environments that support combat soldiers' mental health and help alleviate PTSD.

Time for a comeback
With Iowa leading the CyHawk Series 10-4, three Cyclone and Hawkeye teams will go head-to-head in Ames this week: men's basketball (6:30 p.m. Thursday), women's swimming (6 p.m. Friday) and women's basketball (7 p.m. Friday).

'Nutcracker' on stage this weekend
The Iowa State Center's production of The Nutcracker Ballet is booked for three shows, Dec. 12-13, at Stephens Auditorium. The holiday classic features area dancers alongside professional performers in principal roles. Tickets, $22 plus fees, are available at the Iowa State ticket office and through Ticketmaster.
