You're invited: Listening sessions scheduled as part of presidential search
Meeting for the first time June 5, the presidential search committee set four public listening sessions for next week at which individuals can offer ideas on what qualities are needed in the next ISU president.

New look available for websites
Web developers rolled out a new theme for department and unit websites, with an eye on consistency, accessibility and usability. The theme can be downloaded in four formats.

Winfrey named Memorial Union director
Steve Winfrey, director of the student union at North Dakota State University, Fargo, will become the director of the Memorial Union on Aug. 14.

Canvas is the new learning management system
A limited version will be used this fall, with the full version available for spring 2018 courses.

P&S employees: A little help with the job tool
As part of the P&S classification/compensation system review, employees have been asked to provide information on their actual job responsibilities. UHR staff provide some insight on what to expect when you open the job profile tool.

Class of 2017 adds to scholarship fund
A scholarship fund has been the senior class gift of choice since 2012.This spring's graduates have contributed more than $23,000 to the growing fund.

Algae, beware
A campus services team applied an annual dose of aluminum sulfate to Lake LaVerne this week. The intent? Reduce nutrient levels in the water to knock back algae growth.

Researchers capture quasiparticle images
The discovery could be an early step in developing nanophotonic circuits that are up to 1 million times faster than current electrical circuits.

A solar car for four
Team PrISUm unveiled its newest solar car June 2. After 13 vehicles over  26 years, car number 9 has jumped from a single seater to a four-door, four seater. The car and team are on an Iowa tour through June 24.

Dairy Farm open house is Friday
ISU Extension and Outreach is celebrating dairy month with three events around the state, including the 9th annual open house at the ISU Dairy Farm on June 9 (6-11 a.m., 52470 260th St., south of Ames). Tours, demonstrations and family-friendly activities are planned.
