New website will link users to inclusion info
All Iowa State inclusion information and resources will be accessible through a new website under construction. Its formal launch is slated for early next fall.

Rajala reappointed to Engineering dean post
Sarah Rajala, who has served as dean of the College of Engineering since April 2013, was reappointed last month to a five-year term.

Zipcar is the new car-sharing provider to campus
Iowa State has offered car sharing since 2011, but this month brings a new program to campus, Zipcar, a subsidiary of Avis. Employees and students may become members and lease a vehicle by the hour or day for personal use.

Regent approval expected on four university projects
The state Board of Regents will be asked to approve four ISU facility requests when it meets Jan. 9-10.

CyRide to explore electric bus feasibility
Prompted by an independent study project by an Iowa State undergraduate student, CyRide this month will begin studying the costs of running some of its routes with electric buses.

Wearable plant sensors aid low-cost study of water usage
A research team headed by electrical and computer engineering's Liang Dong is developing graphene-based, sensors on tape that can be attached to plants and provide data about water use in crops. The technology could have many other applications.

A wrestling weekend
The Cyclone wrestling squad returns to post-holiday action this weekend with two dual meets at Hilton Coliseum: Friday, Jan. 5 (7 p.m.) vs. Northern Colorado, and Sunday, Jan. 7 (2 p.m.) vs. Oregon State. Tickets are $10 (youth $5).

Family movies in January
Reiman Gardens will host family movie showings twice daily (10 a.m. and 1 p.m.) on Saturdays in January. "Cars" kicks off the series on Jan. 6. Snacks and beverages will be sold. Admission is free for youth, members and ISU students; $8 for others (seniors $7).

Carillon concert honors King
Iowa State's annual carillon concert honoring Martin Luther King Jr. is Wednesday, Jan. 10 (11:50 a.m., central campus). University carillonneur Tin-Shi Tam will perform. The event kicks off Iowa State's birthday tribute to the civil rights leader.
