New Vet Med dean arrives Oct. 1
Dan Grooms, professor and chair of the large animal clinical sciences department at Michigan State University, is the next Stephen G. Juelsgaard Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Reallocations bolster FY19 budget
The new budget relies on just over $14 million in new revenue and approximately $4.5 million in internal reallocations to fund the university's top priorities, including $5 million for employee salary increases.

Football game field to carry MidAmerican Energy name
The athletics department unveiled a plan Aug. 1 to name the playing surface at Jack Trice Stadium MidAmerican Energy Field. The naming reflects MidAmerican's support of the new student-athlete performance center, on which construction will begin next spring northwest of the stadium.

Why should chickens cross the rows (of broccoli)?
An experiment at the Horticulture Research Station is exploring the impact of chickens roaming through harvested vegetable fields, which could lead to greater efficiency and healthier soils.

ISU study explores game-based learning preferences
A research team led by associate education professor Larysa Nadolny studied the different approaches in high school and middle school to game-based learning, an increasingly popular teaching method.
