Transition plans being finalized for staff staying in units
Transition teams are aligning local-level responsibilities and positions impacted by the shift to improved service delivery teams for finance and human resources work.

New student orientation begins Friday
An estimated 5,600 would-be Cyclones will participate in student orientation between May 24 and June 28. Most are incoming fall freshmen; about 200 are transfer students.

Library lobby remodel includes new view
This summer, a renovation of Parks Library's lobby will open up the space along the rest of the south-facing windows, creating a bright spot for additional seating and small-group rooms.

University closed Monday for holiday
Classes will not meet and university offices will be closed Monday, May 27, to observe the national Memorial Day holiday.

Learning communities: Now for ISU faculty, too
The first five faculty learning communities, selected this spring in a competitive process, will connect researchers and scholars across academic disciplines on a shared topic or issue beginning this fall.

ISU research shows doctors should stop asking patients about missed pills and start asking about their medication routines.

Power Pullers compete next week
Iowa State's one-fourth scale pulling tractor, VerCytile, will compete at a design/pulling competition May 30-June 2 in Peoria, Illinois, hosted by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers. Last summer's ISU entry finished fifth among 30 schools.

Arts and events
Memorial Day ceremony will honor employees, retirees
About 130 retired and current faculty and staff, their spouses or partners who passed away in the last year will be remembered during a campus event Monday, May 27 (9 a.m., Reiman Ballroom, Alumni Center). The ceremony is free and open to the public.
