At some point, data entry has to pause to make go-live work. A new webpage will serve as the go-to source for legacy system "cutover" deadlines.

New student regent is a Cyclone
Iowa State junior Zack Leist has been appointed to the state Board of Regents by Gov. Kim Reynolds. He began his service Tuesday at the board meeting in Ames.

Internal job applications will be easier with Workday
After Workday launches July 1, Iowa State faculty and staff no longer will need to use the external website to apply for ISU positions.

Regents approve fall tuition rates
ISU students will pay between 3.7% and 4.8% more in tuition and fees next year, following the state Board of Regents' final approval of 2019-20 tuition and mandatory fees June 6. For resident undergraduates, the increase is $331.

Safety upgrades are coming for campus elevators
An extensive project that began last summer will update the majority of older elevators across campus, but hopefully you'll never need the most noticeable improvements.

P&S Council backs anti-bullying effort, considers training request
The Professional and Scientific Council supports establishing a campuswide anti-bullying policy and might ask the university to offer staff a training program about discussing difficult matters.

Committee will provide service delivery oversight
An advisory committee will evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the finance and human resources improved service delivery models, identifying areas for improvement.

Change Agent: Debra Marquart
In April, Distinguished Professor of English Debra Marquart was named Iowa's poet laureate. In her new role, she plans to hold creative writing seminars across the state and visit schools and libraries to inspire young writers.

ITS offers new online conferencing platform
Cisco Webex is the newest ITS supported platform for video conferencing, private and large group meetings, and collaboration between university leaders, students and staff.

ISU climbs in ranking of universities granted U.S. patents
Iowa State is No. 69 globally in the number of patents granted in the United States last year with 34. That's up from No. 83 in 2017.

Why U.S. divorce rate is dropping sharply
Fewer Americans are getting divorced, with the rates falling 18% between 2008 and 2016, associate professor of human development and family studies Tera Jordan recently wrote in an essay for The Conversation.

Art walk is June 12
Join a university museums staff member on a one-hour walking tour of photogenic pieces from the Art on Campus collection Wednesday, June 12 (noon). Meet at the Fountain of the Four Seasons on the front lawn of the Memorial Union.
