Parameters set for January salary increases

For faculty, P&S staff, contract staff and postdoctoral researchers with satisfactory performance evaluations, the salary adjustment range is 1%-3%. For extraordinary performance, up to a 4% increase is possible without additional approval.

Confirm your sign-on verification factors prior to dashboard switch

Employees should confirm or update their verification factors in the Okta sign-on dashboard before IT services transfers campus users' verification factors to a Microsoft dashboard in early August.

Ann Gansemer-Topf began serving this month as director of the School of Education and Frances S. and Arthur L. Wallace Professor in the College of Human Sciences. She joined the ISU faculty in 2012.


Peter Dorhout reappointed to research post

Achievements during his first term as vice president for research include record external research funding, a structure (research roundtables) for fostering interdisciplinary work on campus and leading the team that developed the university's nine-year strategic plan.


Wintersteen recognized for statewide innovation impact

Earlier this month, leaders from the Des Moines Business Record presented President Wendy Wintersteen with the publication's innovationENTREPRENEUR of the Year award.

Around campus

Total external funding increases to record $544.6 million

Iowa State researchers attracted $346.2 million in external funding for the fiscal year that ended June 30. It's the third straight year of record research funding.


Students transform faculty/staff space with mural

Design students and alumni spent part of their summer designing and painting a mural in a lunchroom in Ross Hall. Students learned how to design a mural, plan for materials and execute the vision as a team. 


Vet Med study sheds light on influenza spread in dairy cows

ISU researchers discovered why dairy cows infected by highly pathogenic avian influenza are shedding the virus in their milk. Their findings could help develop biosecurity measures aimed at slowing the spread of the illness.

Arts

Sculpture of tribal leader presented to Meswaki Nation

Following a July 11 event, a replica casting of Christian Petersen's sculpture of tribal leader Pushetonequa will be permanently exhibited at the Meskwaki Cultural Center & Museum in Tama. The gift is part of 50th anniversary events for university museums.


Artists reception is Thursday evening

An artists reception will be held Thursday, July 18 (5-7 p.m., Memorial Union Art Gallery) with Ames artists and ISU alumni Rachel Deutmeyer and Barbara Walton. Their encaustic (beeswax) art exhibition is viewable six days/week through July 26, Monday through Friday (10 a.m.-2 p.m.) and Sunday (1-4 p.m.).
