Celebrating our fall graduates

Nearly 1,800 students are completing their Iowa State degree this semester and will celebrate during two ceremonies this weekend. For some, the milestone is possible because of financial support they received in the final stretch.

Winter session, winter break begin Dec. 23

Strategic plan revisions required for DEI law compliance

The state Board of Regents directed the regent universities to update any portions of their strategic plans that pertain to diversity, equity and inclusion to comply with Iowa Senate File 243, and submit their revised plans for consideration at the February regents meeting. 


Kellogg named TRIO student support services director

Japannah Kellogg, who served as TRIO student support services director from 2003 to 2017, will return to the post on Jan. 1.

Seniors tour Therkildsen facility before graduating

In their final class meeting, the 24 members of David Sly's senior capstone section received a guided tour of the nearly complete Therkildsen Industrial Engineering Building Wednesday. Most of the group graduates Saturday, and made the most of one more opportunity to learn.

Matt McGarry long dreamed of starting his own dairy operation. Decades later, he's pursuing that dream, thanks to the custom-designed education and hands-on experiences he received at Iowa State.


Making the most of each opportunity

Chase O'Connell said 'yes' to opportunities in and beyond Iowa State classrooms, from honors programs on campus to the Johnson Space Center in Houston. In the process, he found new challenges and met cool people.


Finding her purpose in the classroom

Sybil Below started down a different path before she found her niche in the family business -- education. An opportunity to substitute teach cemented her love for the classroom. Video story.

A few more nights for the lights

Reiman Gardens' Winter Wonderland holiday light show continues on select evenings through the end of the month: Dec. 19-21, Dec. 23 and Dec. 26-28 (5-9 p.m. daily, timed entry). Purchase tickets online. The display includes more than 150,000 lights and walk-through structures throughout the gardens.
