Congratulations, faculty
Promotions for 110 faculty members -- 50 term and 60 tenure-eligible -- were shared today on the provost's website. The promotions take effect for the 2025-26 academic year.
Plan to combine alumni association, foundation moves forward
The plan names a steering committee and five work teams to address aspects of the combination, which was one of five recommendations from an external consultant.
Celebrating our students at universitywide CYning Day on April 30
Graduate students and undergraduates who have accepted a co-op, internship, research experience, grad school or post-grad job are invited to stop by any of five designated spots on campus Wednesday hosted by career services offices for a snack and a photo to share on social media.

Helping on-farm founders
For Iowans starting small businesses on their farms, ISU expertise can make all the difference for success as they adapt and grow. Their stories are the fifth in strategic relations and communication's 2025 Innovation at Work series, which illustrates Iowa State's role as a trusted partner to Iowa businesses and industries.
Food drive for local pantries runs April 28-May 8
A drive-up-and-drop-off option for donations will be available two days, May 5-6, during the morning commute (7-8:30 a.m.) in or near parking lots.

New way to battle soybean cyst nematodes
A new study co-authored by Distinguished Professor of plant pathology, entomology and microbiology Thomas Baum opens new avenues for combatting soybean cyst nematodes, the most damaging pest for U.S. soybean crops.
Study finds food insecurity persists at ISU
Food science and human nutrition researchers found that 27% of students at Iowa State are food insecure, with higher rates among African American and Hispanic students. Many factors contribute to food insecurity, including food costs, tuition and living expenses, and transportation limitations.
Students create butterfly app for Reiman Gardens
Reiman Gardens partnered with students to create a "Butterfly of the Day" app, bringing the vibrant world of butterflies directly to users' mobile devices. The app showcases a butterfly species each day and shares butterfly images for phone wallpaper or home screens. It's available in the Apple and Google Play app stores.

An evening of duets
Students in the ISU Opera Studio will present "Tea for Two, Duets from Opera and Musical Theatre" on Thursday, April 24 (7:30 p.m. Tye Hall, Estes Music Hall). The duets span four centuries of opera and musical theatre. Tickets are $5 (free to the ISU community) at the door.
Cattle on Welch Avenue
Campustown Showdown -- an ag community promotional event styled after a Manhattan, Kansas, show -- begins Friday, April 25, with a cattle show at the Hansen Agriculture Student Learning Center (6 p.m.). Saturday, April 26, features another cattle show (9:30 a.m.) at the center, with top cattle competing in a championship round on Welch Avenue (6:30 p.m.). The event includes live music, fashion show, a selection of champions and press conference. Activities are free to attend.
ISU Antique Tractor Club to host show
The third annual Spring Antique Tractor Show is Saturday, April 26 (11 a.m.-2 p.m., parking lot 10, west of Town Engineering). Highlights include a lineup of antique tractors, pedal tractor pull competition and free lunch (pulled pork sandwiches and chips) until supplies are gone. Ice cream can be purchased. Admission is free.
Celebration of the ISU bells
ISU Stanton Memorial Carillon Foundation trustee and student Eric Wittrock will present "The Bells of Iowa State: An Enduring Tradition" on Wednesday, April 30 (7-8 p.m., Ames Public Library). His talk, coinciding with the campanile's 125th anniversary, will cover the history of its carillon.
