A statehouse spotlight on ISU's impact

A new job category in the university's online job board, CyHire -- the EUReCA position -- lets faculty post undergraduate positions for a research project or creative endeavor. The category is the acronym for the Exploring Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity program, formerly the university-wide Undergraduate Research program.

Home opener for Cyclone tennis
The tennis team continues the nonconference portion of its 2026 season with two home matches this weekend: Saturday at noon vs. Wichita State and Sunday at 11 a.m. vs. University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, both at the ISU indoor tennis facility, 3700 University Blvd. Admission is free.
Reunion weekend for women's basketball
Former student-athletes will be recognized during the Cyclone women's basketball home contest against Central Florida on Saturday (2 p.m., Hilton Coliseum). A special ticket four-pack lowers admission to $10.65/fan.
Celebrating alumnus George Washington Carver

Monday, Feb. 2: Stop by the Seed Science Center (10 a.m.-3 p.m.) to enjoy free, freshly popped popcorn and take a photo with the life-size Carver statue outside the building. The statue serves as a reminder that the values Carver championed, including curiosity, service, innovation and equity in education, remain central to Iowa State's land-grant mission.

Monday, Feb. 2: The university community will celebrate Carver's legacy in an hour-long program (5:30-6:30 p.m., Memorial Union Great Hall), emceed by Agriculture and Life Sciences dean Daniel Robison. Then linger a bit and enjoy a treat from the ISU Creamery.

Tuesday, Feb. 3: All four Iowa State choirs -- Iowa State Singers, Cantamus, Statesmen and Lyrica -- and the Golden Voices Concert Choir of Tuskegee University (where Carver spent nearly all of his career) will give a joint concert (7:30 p.m., Stephens Auditorium). It will open with a talk about spirituals by Golden Voices conductor Wayne Barr, with demonstrations from his choir. Concert tickets are free with a good-will donation.
